Why vegan?

- For the animals. Veganism is not a diet. It is a moral and politician compromise based on respect to all the animals. To think that the other animals are individuals with interests that deserve to be respected implies stopping using them in any area (food, clothing, experimentation, entertainment…), and to prevent that thousands of them dying every second in slaughter houses, farms, zoos, laboratories, furrier´s farm, and so on. Being vegan implies deciding to no longer be a participant of this industry of exploitation, suffering and death; promoting values such as respect, equality, empathy or solidarity.

- For health. The position of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), wich has over 72.000 specialists in nutrition members, is that "appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes".

Vegetables, cereals, fruits, nuts and seeds provides us all the nutrients that we need to support an ideal state of health.

- For environment. Animal exploitation reverberates in several ways in the environment. First of all, many resources are squandered, because a lot of vegetables, water and área are necessary to feed them, besides a bigger use of energy. Secondly, the use of some of these resources, as the area, can affect seriously in the natural spaces, which are devastated or eliminated to create new cereals and soybean areas for cattle. Finally, the animal exploitation supposes the biggest pollution source of the planet, over than the transport area even, due to the quantity of tailing and gas emission that it generates. It seems, therefore, that veganism can be beneficial for the planet, and because of that , for all the animals (include human animals) that live in it.

In short, being vegans we make our contribution and try to do of this one a better world for all its inhabitants.
